Lomiko Metals - Energy Metals: Graphite and Lithium

Looks like Lomiko Metals has found its new life after it has acquired the Graphite property and engaged in its marketing. Rick Mills has covered the Graphite story recently and we will see who has the goods in the end. So far the stock has a very impressive run from 2 cents to as high as 18. Real exploration program should show the potential of this project.

Financial Press: Lomiko Metals Jumps Ahead in Graphite Market

Over the last few weeks the company has been making steady strides forward in the development of its high-potential graphite project.

Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) April 02, 2012

(Financial Press) –Lomiko Metals Inc. (TSX Venture:LMR) is a graphite exploration company focused on exploring for high purity, large crystallite graphite on its Quatre Milles project.
Over the last few weeks the company has been making steady strides forward in the development of its high-potential graphite project. Those steps include completing a financing deal, hiring a geological consulting firm, making a new and experienced addition to its board of advisors, and completing a 43-101 Technical Report on its graphite project (full report available here

http://lomiko.com/public/files/others/2012-03-15_NI_43-101_ReportQuatresMills__March152012__Final%5B1%5D.pdf).

Each move adds significantly to the unfolding Lomiko storyline. For example, the 43-101 report has been submitted to and accepted by regulators. The report details many key aspects of the historical exploration work on the property.

The report was prepared by geologist Jean-Sébastien Lavallée of Consul-Teck Mineral Exploration Consultants and includes the following highlights:

Graphicor (the past owner of the Quatre Milles property) completed reconnaissance mapping and prospecting as well as ground geophysics and a 26 hole diamond drill program totaling 1,625 metres

Three surface samples were collected and analyzed returning results of 14.16% Cgf, 18.06% Cgf and 20.35% Cgf.

23 of the initial 26 drill holes intersected graphite concentrations with graphite concentration in range of 4.69% in hole Q90-1 to a highlight of 8.07% Cgf over 28.60 metres in hole Q90-7.

The report also defines the proximity of Lomiko’s graphite project to the operational Timcal graphite mine.

The past exploration results from the project, its proximity to other known and economic graphite deposits, and Lomiko’s development plans have attracted a lot of investment capital as well.

On February 3, 2012, the company announced a financing deal to raise an estimated $700,000 of capital to fund advanced exploration work on the project.
Just over a month later Lomiko announced it had completed the financing deal for more than $900,000. That’s more than 28% more than was initially sought and reflects the investment demand for Lomiko and graphite.

Lomiko has also attracted additional management. The company has added Dr. Dietmar Siebholz to its board of advisors.

Siebholz has a Ph.D. in economics and has extensive experience in the graphite market as an investor, analyst, and discovering uses for graphite in advanced technologies.
Furthermore, Siebholz has more than 50 years of public market experience including on the floor of the Dusseldorf (Germany) Stock Exchange and nearly two decades involved in precious metals and commodities investing and markets.

These steps are key to the development of Lomiko’s rapid rise in the graphite market.
Lomiko, as an early mover in the graphite sector, has had its share price more triple since the start of 2012. It currently has a total market cap of under $9 million.

Lithium market: Strong Growth to Drive Lithium-ion Battery Market to $54 Billion by 2020 ilc.v, tnr.v, czx.v, rm.v, lmr.v, abn.v, asm.v, btt.v, bva.v, bvg.v, epz.v, fst.v, gbn.v, hao.v, jnn.v, ks.v, ktn.v, kxm.v, mgn, mxr.v, rvm.to, svb, ura.v, nup.ax, srz.ax, usa.ax

The fall in the price of Lithium batteries is one of the most important conditions for the Electric Cars mass market roll out. We have more research confirming that Lithium has became the core Energy Storage technology and Plug-Ins will be the driving force in this market.

"We are searching for the value among the bitten into the dust by the recent market panic juniors. Strong portfolios, solid management and special situations are the name of this game today as usual.

"With the advent of electric vehicles, consumers around the world have the opportunity to be less vulnerable to volatile price increases in fuel costs as well as inherently benefit the environment through a reduction in carbon emissions.  As the cost per barrel of oil continues to increase in conjunction with the continued advancements in Electric Vehicle technologies, a 5 percent penetration rate is generally projected by 2020.  This introduction of Electric Vehicles on the road and the larger scale lithium-ion batteries that supply the power, translates to a marked leap in the demand for lithium carbonate this coming decade.  Where will this new supply come from?  International Lithium Corporation is an international lithium exploration company with strong management, excellent potential, and promising future growth in an emerging industry."

Study: Lithium-ion vehicle batteries to outnumber laptop computer packs by 2015

by Eric Loveday (RSS feed) on Aug 24th 2011

iSuppli battery cost graph

The automotive industry – more specifically, plug-in vehicles – will be the driving force for demand for lithium-ion batteries by 2015, surpass the laptop computers that today hold the top spot. That's according to a report from iSuppli, which states that lithium-ion's distinct advantages over other competing types of rechargeable battery chemistries will push it to the top in automotive applications. iSuppli says lithium-ion's lack of memory and availability in multiple shapes makes it a "particularly attractive" option for plug-in vehicles.

In a statement, Satoru Oyama, principal analyst of Japan electronics research for iSuppli, forecasted:

Lithium-ion at present is much more expensive than alternative technologies, costing two to three times as much as sodium-sulfur, lead-acid and nickel-metal-hydride rechargeable batteries. However, lithium-ion pricing will decline much more rapidly than the other technologies, coming close to cost parity in 2015, and then becoming the least expensive type of rechargeable battery in 2020.
The last line is key and sure makes it seem that nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) is on its way out.

Lithium Demand: Industry Suffers As Apple Grabs Lithium Polymer Batteries ilc.v tnr.v, czx.v, cgp.v, alk.ax, lmr.v, rm.v, nup.ax, srz.ax, usa.ax, jnn.v, abn.v, ura.v, mxr.v, tsla, res, mcp, avl.to, quc.v, cee.v, sqm, fmc, roc, li.v, wlc.v, clq.v, lit, nsany, byddf, gm, dai, rno.pa, hev, aone, vlnc

Now we can put all recently announced Lithium products price increases into the market perspective.

"Lithium polymer technology only accounts for 10 percent of battery production but Simplo Technology and Dynapack International Technology in Taiwan estimate it is 20-30 percent of their production already Intel estimates that by the end of next year this will swell to 40 percent"

This sector is growing very fast and it is even without Electric Cars being rolled out in any meaningful numbers now - which are projected to be the major driving factor for the lithium industry.
All world is going mobile and all those iPhones, iPads and Androids needs lithium batteries.

"Lithium Market: FMC Lithium Announces Global Price Increases.  We have another one of Lithium Big Four announcing the global price increase for the lithium products. Now we can realize why all major industry insiders were searching and making deals in order to secure Lithium supply. Nobody would like be at the mercy of the Lithium OPEC when Electric Cars will go mainstream in the next five years time. Talking about OPEC - it took IEA to announce the release from Oil Strategic Reserves in order to bring Oil prices down. QE 3.0 has been started with this move - welcome into the Election Cycle.

eWeek:

Industry Suffers As Apple Grabs Polymer Batteries

 by Eric Doyle

Greedy Apple has charged out to buy up lithium-ion polymer batteries, leaving its rivals hungry for power
Lithium-ion polymer batteries are said to be in short supply andApple is rumoured to have a grip on the market.
The company’s dependence on these compact power cells for its MacBooks, iPad, iPod and iPhone ranges means that it has to guarantee its supply lines in the face of increasing competition from other manufacturers. Intel’s ultrathin PC architecture has drawn the attention of several large manufacturers and the demand for polymer batteries is rapidly increasing.

Growing market, Limited Production Capacity

According to sources in Japan, South Korea and China, Lithium polymer technology only accounts for 10 percent of battery production but Simplo Technology and Dynapack International Technology in Taiwan estimate it is 20-30 percent of their production already. Intel estimates that by the end of next year this will swell to 40 percent. The current shortage is likely to cause Apple’s competitors a few problems as prices rise for a diminishing stock of supplies.
Hewlett-Packard and Acer are known to be seeking new suppliers to increase their sources and the battery makers are ramping up production. Asus and Dell are also supporting the ultrathin market and prices have increased 20 percent this quarter, a rising trend that could continue for the next few quarters.
Despite claims to be greening their companies, the PC makers are sacrificing some of their reputation for the current fashion for thin form factors. Polymer batteries are even less environmentally-friendly and shorter-lived than standard lithium-ion cells. They cannot be recycled and they contain some truly dangerous chemicals that are produced by energy intensive processes.
It is assumed that by jumping in ahead of everyone else, Apple will have secured its stocks at a better price than currently-available polymer cells. It is also rumoured that the company is flexing its marketing muscle to persuade suppliers of its other computer parts to reduce their prices by 10 percent. If the company succeeds it should bring down prices and make Apple much more competitive on price.
