Lithium Game Changer: 2014 Renault Zoe pure-electric car could have 220 mile range ilc.v, tnr.v, czx.v, rm.v, lmr.v, abn.v, asm.v, btt.v, bva.v, bvg.v, epz.v, fst.v, gbn.v, hao.v, jnn.v, ks.v, ktn.v, kxm.v, mgn, mxr.v, rvm.to, svb, ura.v, nup.ax, srz.ax, usa.ax

We have a very interesting report from Charging Point in Europe. Could it be true? We will be searching for confirmation. The price for the Lithium Battery lease should go up in this case, but it will be the small price to pay for the range of 220 miles, which will be comparable to Tesla Model S premium specification, but in the budget market sector! If Renault Zoe price can stay in the £15k range  - it will be the best entry point on cost basis and the game changer for the Electric Cars. We can start to talk about the mass market for Electric Cars!
We have found the link to the French magazine and have posted it below. Article has sighted 350 km range for Renault Zoe  2014. Here is a very interesting connection - Germany has a target of 350 km range for the Electric Cars to make its mainstream adoption viable. Can Renault somehow get hold of DBM Energy technology? Or is it an in-house development? This news has to be confirmed by the company on all counts, but if it is true - we can talk about the breakthrough in commercial applications of Lithium Batteries for Electric cars. Europe electric cars market adoption rate can take off very fast in this case, Gas prices there are already over 8 dollars per gallon! All games around Iran will be ended in even higher gas prices at the pump. In US there are more and more talks about the 5 dollars per gallon at the pump now.
Chinese companies like BYD are claiming the similar range, but that technology is still far away from any western markets so far. Will Nissan Leaf 2014 get the same Lithium battery pack now? Renault will bring Nissan into the game in Asia and this combination can claim a very significant market share in Electric Cars.
220 miles range and revolutionary marketing approach, when you are leasing the Lithium battery and paying monthly fees for it - leaving all potential worries about the battery to the major automaker - will make it the game changer for the electric cars. Renault promise the full warranty on your Lithium Battery - you can exchange it and upgrade it under the leasing scheme. It will bring the market adoption rate forward - people are still waiting for the confirmation of technology, particularly with Lithium Batteries warranties and performance.
Our Lithium developers are waiting for this kind of news now after the last year consolidation in order to resume the Uptrend in the generational Bull market. It remains to be seen, whether recent Electric Cars' hatred campaign has marked the bottom in the sector.

Geneva 2012: reveal of Renault Zoe’s series model (+ Zoe 2.0 in 2014)

Initially, it will be sold from October 2012 with a battery that will allow -as planned- 160km, but the 2.0 generation is already in the works with a range doubled for 2014 (350km precisely), thanks to a new generation of batteries; technology undisclosed now, but Renault abandoned its investments in Lithium Manganese since the construction of their plant has been canceled."

Lithium Drive: GADGET GEEKS: ELECTRIC CARS REVIEW
"Oil Empire strikes back these days - a lot of talks about Electric Cars polluting more than ICE one and about China choking on its New Energy Vehicles initiatives. With Iran's state of foreign affairs now - will they cut the Oil to Europe or not - all these games will make the transition out of Oil just more bloody and expensive. Lithium developers are still on sale and you can have your Xmas shopping late in the season."

If Renault Zoe will make its way to production in this design we will be very impressed. We need those long range new Lithium batteries now so much!

"Now IBM has joined the Lithium battery race - this announcement puts it on par with Toyota developing its 1000 km Lithium battery and we are still looking for confirmation from German DBM Energy  about the progress to commercialise its Kolibri Lithium battery which is available now, according to the company."

Small car, small price, huge range according to rumour

By John Silcox on February 17, 2012 5:34 PM

The 2012 Renault Zoe isn’t even in UK showrooms yet, but already there are intriguing rumours surrounding the second generation of the pure-electric vehicle due in 2014.

In the build up to the unveiling of the 2012 Zoe small car at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, French magazine BFM Business reports that Renault will release a new version in 2014, with a maximum range of 220 miles. That’s more than double the range of the 2012 Zoe's 100 miles, which is also the current market standard.

BFM Business says the extra range will be possible due to advances in battery technology, although that would be pretty spectacular progress.

TheChargingPoint.com asked Renault how much truth there is to the article and they were predictably tight-lipped. “We haven't confirmed the range of this new model yet,” said a spokesperson. “Everything is under wraps until press conference of 6 March in Geneva. The only guidance given so far officially is we believe it will have best range of any EV at launch.”

The only other electric vehicle currently available with a similar range is the2011 Tesla Roadster, which scores 245 miles per charge. However the big attraction of the Zoe is not the design, electric drivetrain or even range, but theprice. The 2014 Zoe is expected to be priced similarly to this year’s model – approximately £15,000 including the £5,000 UK Government subsidy. That’s equivalent to a Renault Clio diesel.

Customers will nevertheless have to take into account a monthly lease fee for the battery from Renault – approximately £65 for the first generation – which is how the manufacturer can make EV technology available to the general public at such a low cost.

The Zoe is Renault’s first ever car developed solely for an electric powertrain and follows in the footsteps of the 2011 Renault Kangoo ZE van and 2012 Renault Fluence ZE saloon – both adaptions of existing vehicles that run on petrol/ diesel. Zoe will be built in the French marque’s factory in Flins, near Paris.

Powered by an electric motor dishing out 222Nm of torque from zero revs, it is expected to get from 0 to 62mph in 8.1 seconds."
