International Lithium Corp.: Drill Program Commences at Mavis Lake-Fairservice Lithium and Rare Metals Project, Ontario

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - August 18, 2011) - International Lithium Corp. (TSX VENTURE:ILC)(TSX VENTURE:ILC.WT) ("ILC" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the commencement of a 1,200 metre drill program on the Rare Metals pegmatite field spanning the Company's contiguous Mavis Lake and Fairservice claim blocks near Dryden Ontario.
Key Highlights:
  • 1,200 metre minimum drill program commences on the Rare Metals pegmatite field spanning the Company's contiguous Mavis Lake and Fairservice properties;
  • Mavis Lake pegmatites exhibit high-grade well-evolved lithium and tantalum zonation in conjunction with significant levels of cesium and rubidium at surface;
  • A historical (non NI 43-101 compliant*) resource of 500,000 tons at 1.0% Li2O was delineated on 1 out of 10 known pegmatite bodies at Fairservice;
  • Primary objectives are to confirm the historic lithium grades on the Fairservice property and test the rare metal potential of the Mavis Lake pegmatites; and
  • International Lithium Corp. launches new website.
"The Mavis Lake - Fairservice project is clearly emerging as a premier multi-element rare metals project," states International Lithium Corp. President, Mike Sieb. "This represents the first drill program the Company has embarked on subsequent to its' recent public listing and with two additional drill programs in preparation we anticipate a fairly active season ahead of us."
The Company's contiguous Mavis Lake and Fairservice properties straddle one continuous pegmatite field exhibiting high-grade well-evolved lithium and tantalum zonation as well as significant levels of cesium and rubidium. The primary objectives of the drill program are to confirm the historic lithium grades on the Fairservice property and test the rare metal potential of the Mavis Lake property highlighted in the recent surface exploration programs.
Mavis Lake Claim Block
Two field programs were undertaken in 2009 consisting of detailed mapping and sampling of the known pegmatite occurrences to assess the lithium (Li), tantalum (Ta) and other rare metals potential of the Company's 100% owned Mavis Lake property. Composite channel samples returned 1.24 Wt% Li2O over 5.3 metres and 1.4 Wt% Li2O over 4.7 metres from Pegmatite #18.
In addition, a lithogeochemical survey over a 1200m by 900m grid extended the lithium dispersion anomaly (>50 ppm Li) by 1.1kms to 4.5kms in total length. Of special note, 38% (78 of 204 grab samples) graded better than 150 ppm Ta2O5** (tantalum oxide) demonstrating widespread highly anomalous Tantalum mineralization (TNR Gold Corp., precursor reporting issuer to ILC spin-out, news release dated December 9, 2009).
The highest tantalum values came from Pegmatites 13, 14 and 16 which occur within an area of 500 by 800 metres that represents the known southeastern exploration limit for rare metal mineralization on the property. This prospective area of elevated tantalum values is underexplored and open to the east and southeast. Grab samples from this area returned peak Ta2O5 values of 1349 ppm (0.135%) and 1246 ppm (0.125%) from the No.16 and No.14 pegmatites, respectively**.
**Note: grab samples are by definition selective and are unlikely to represent average grades on the property.
Fairservice Mining Leases
The Fairservice property consists of 6 Mining Leases totaling 88.4 hectares and is dominated by east trending spodumene-beryl-tantalite-type pegmatites considered to be part of the same dyke swarm as on the Company's adjacent Mavis Lake claim block. Past exploration identified 10 pegmatites (Pegmatite #1-10) and delineated an historical (non NI 43-101 compliant) resource of 500,000 tons at 1.0% Li2O at Pegmatite #1*.
To earn a 100% interest, ILC has agreed to make payments totaling $120,000 and issuing an aggregate of 500,000 common shares of ILC over a three-year period and incurring exploration expenditures totaling $500,000 over a four-year period. The vendor will retain a 5% Net Profits Interest royalty of which the Company has the right to purchase in entirety by paying the Vendor the sum of $1 million.
* Note: a qualified person has not done sufficient work to classify the historical estimate as current mineral resources, the issuer is not treating the historical estimate as current mineral resources and the historical estimate should not be relied upon.
Mavis Lake - Fairservice Property Area - General
The contiguous Mavis Lake and Fairservice properties are located 15 km Northeast of Dryden, Ontario. The properties are easily accessed via the Trans-Canada Highway and a series of logging roads. The claim blocks comprise a total of 2,624 hectares and cover several known rare metal pegmatites.
Regional pegmatite mineralization is directly associated with the strongly peraluminous Ghost Lake pluton and related pegmatitic granite dykes. Rare metal mineralization in the Mavis Lake area occurs in zoned pegmatites hosted by mafic metavolcanic rocks. Rare metal mineralization has been noted to occur in four zones: internal beryl zone within the parent of the Ghost Lake pluton that evolves to the east within the Fairservice and Mavis Lake claim blocks into external zones of beryl-columbite, spodumene-beryl-tantalite and albite-type pegmatites. The Mavis Lake property has reported high-grade well-evolved lithium and tantalum zonation as well as significant levels of cesium and rubidium across multiple pegmatite bodies.
John Harrop, P.Geo, is the company's qualified person on the project as required under NI 43-101 and has reviewed the technical information contained in this press release.

ABOUT INTERNATIONAL LITHIUM CORP.
International Lithium Corp. is an international rare element metals ("REM") mineral exploration company with an outstanding portfolio of projects, strong management ownership, robust financial support and a prominent lithium product manufacturer as a keystone investor.
ILC currently has 9 active REM projects, well balanced between lithium brines in Argentina and Nevada and hard-rock pegmatites in Canada and Ireland. The Company's primary focus is the Mariana lithium brine project, a salar or 'salt lake', covering an expansive 160 square kilometres and strategically encompassing the entire basin. Mariana is located in the renowned South American 'Lithium Belt' centred on the junction of Argentina, Bolivia and Chile that is host to the vast majority of global lithium resources, reserves and production. The Mariana lithium brine project ranks as one of the more prospective salars in the region.
Complementing the Company's lithium brine projects are the REM pegmatite properties. The key characteristics shared by the hard-rock REM projects are their limited past exploration, excellent accessibility, limited assaying for rare metals, clear potential for additional exploration to add project value and development potential to meet the global technological growth in demand for the REM suite of elements.
International Lithium Corp.'s mandate is to increase shareholder value through aggressive advancement of its core projects and to source joint venture partners to expand the scope and diversify risk of its exploration effort.
On behalf of the Board,
Mike Sieb, President – International Lithium Corp.

The Lithium Report:

International Lithium Corp. – A Junior to Flourish from the Coming Lithium Boom

August 9 | Posted by "Li1" | Blog, Lithium in the News
With the advent of electric vehicles, consumers around the world have the opportunity to be less vulnerable to volatile price increases in fuel costs as well as inherently benefit the environment through a reduction in carbon emissions.  As the cost per barrel of oil continues to increase in conjunction with the continued advancements in Electric Vehicle technologies, a 5 percent penetration rate is generally projected by 2020.  This introduction of Electric Vehicles on the road and the larger scale lithium-ion batteries that supply the power, translates to a marked leap in the demand for lithium carbonate this coming decade.  Where will this new supply come from?  International Lithium Corporation is an international lithium exploration company with strong management, excellent potential, and promising future growth in an emerging industry.
International Lithium Corp is a newly listed TSX Venture lithium company that established an initial public offering on May 24, 2011 through a spin-off of TNR Gold Corp.’s lithium and rare metal assets.  With significant ownership by TNR Gold Corp, the company is strategically managed by a team with a history of exploring world class lithium and rare metal deposits.
Corporate management has a wealth of knowledge, experience, and significant invested interest in the company.  President and Director Mike Sieb has over 22 years of demonstrating strong corporate growth and project management experience in international mining and exploration.  He previously was president of Brilliant Mining Limited which was among the “Top 10 mining companies on the Toronto Stock Exchange“ for two consecutive years.  He`s also surrounded by strong technical and financial personnel, including John Harrop (VP of Exploration) who has been involved in many aspects of gold and base metal exploration for the last 24 years with international field experience in North, Central, and South America.  Interestingly, the entire management team had significant vested interest in the company.  Out of a total of the 66 million total outstanding shares, TNR Gold Corp owns 29%, followed by Ganfeng Lithium at 9.99%, and non-executive chairman Kirill Klip with 11.5% of the business.
International Lithium Corp. earlier in the year had secured a prominent global lithium manufacturer in Ganfeng Lithium, among one of the first publicly listed lithium company in China.  The Chinese lithium product manufacturer will have 9.99% equity in International Lithium Corporation and is a leading manufacturer of chemical processing, battery development, and technology products in Asia.  This partnership is beneficial to the company by bringing significant project development assistance capabilities and provides for certain marketing and off-take rights.  Wang Xiaoshen, General Manager of Ganfeng Lithium stated that “Lithium is increasingly becoming a vital global element and essential to Ganfeng lithium`s continued growth”.
International Lithium Corp. has over 9 projects worldwide balanced between lithium brine and rare metal hard-rock.  Four lithium brine projects are located in Argentina and Nevada and five hard rock pegmatites in Canada and Ireland.  The Company’s initial focus is on the Mariana Salar project in Argentina which is situated in the world renowned Lithium Belt of South America and south across the border from the largest lithium brine in the world (SQM`s Atacama producing brine) in Chile.
Lithium Belt 269x300 International Lithium Corp. A Junior to Flourish from the Coming Lithium Boom
The 100% owned Mariana Salar covers approximately 160 square kilometres and strategically encompasses the entire basin.  Preliminary samples returned average grades of 440 mg/L lithium and 12,700 mg/L potassium.  Interestingly, the potassium levels represent one of the highest grades comparative to any of the neighbouring salars outside of the world class operation on the Atacama salar in Chile.  With rail, road, and seaport access available, this places the project in an attractive location.   International Lithium Corp. has the ability to fast track the exploration and completion of an initial resource estimate in the first half of 2012.
Mariana1 300x198 International Lithium Corp. A Junior to Flourish from the Coming Lithium Boom
Mike Sieb recently provided an update through an inaugural president`s message in July stating that the site preparation for the Phase 1 drill program at Mariana has been completed. This entailed the construction of a fully operational camp at site, the building of a 25 kilometre drill road network across the salar and the preparation of 8 drill platforms. The Company is currently evaluating drill contracts with the expectation to commence drilling at the first viable availability.

The Company is also actively working on developing its three lithium brine projects in Nevada (Fish Lake, Runway, Sarcobatus Flats) totalling 4800 hectares.  The projects are situated in adjacent valleys to the Silver Peak Clayton valley lithium brine extraction operation that has been in production since 1967 and is the only producing facility in North America.
ILC Lithium Brine Projects 256x300 International Lithium Corp. A Junior to Flourish from the Coming Lithium Boom

What are also generating much interest is the company’s Rare metal projects.  Both Rare Metals and Lithium typically occur in pegmatite formations.  As China continues to reduce exports in rare earth elements, companies like International Lithium Corporation who have rare metal projects should benefit for having properties with substantial value to both international corporations and governments that heavily rely on them.   Most recently, the South Korean government and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Kores formed an alliance with Frontier Rare Earths to acquire 20 percent interest in the Zandkopsdrift project.
International Lithium Corp’s Moose property is located 115 km southeast of Yellowknife, in the Great Slave Lake area in the Northwest Territories close to Avalon’s rare earth elements Nachalacho deposit.  The property was a past high grade Lithium and Tantalum producer over the years 1947 – 1954, and reported production of 119 tonnes of lithium and 4409 tonnes of ore grading 1.69 kg of tantalum, boasting one of the highest Tantalum head grades in Canada.
The Niemi & Forgan Lake projects are located nearby Georgia Lake in Ontario within an area with a long history of lithium bearing pegmatite exploration.  The area saw considerable activity in the 1950s and is known to contain over 38 rare metal pegmatites.
The Mavis Lake and Fairservice projects are contiguous and located near Dryden, northwest Ontario.  At Mavis a grab sample returned 2.11 wt% in lithium oxide and a 4.7 m channel sample graded 1.39% lithium oxide.  Surface exploration revealed high-grade and well evolved Lithium and Tantalum zones along with significant levels of Cesium and Rubidium, spread across several pegmatite bodies within a 25 square kilometre claim.
The Blackstairs project is located in Ireland about 80 km southwest from Dublin.  The company has successfully been granted eight licenses that extend 292 square kilometres and encompass 19 pegmatite bodies along a 30 km length.  Geological surveys of Ireland in 1990 previously identified significant tantalum anomalies and historic drilling yielded 2.3% lithium over 1.4 m and 1.6% lithium over 5.5 m.
The power of lithium to solve the world’s energy needs through bringing efficient technologies in battery innovation and energy storage solutions has much promise going forward.  This has made lithium as a new game-changing commodity that the world will increasingly rely on, whether it is small efficient batteries used for laptops, iPhones, cameras, portable electronics, or larger applications like batteries for the new electric vehicle industry or energy storage modules used to manage utility grids.  As a result, the market will grow and one should keep an eye on International Lithium Corporation as we advance our projects in anticipation to meet this future demand."

US Dollar Collapse: Inside Job: S&P Downgrades US Long Term Debt to AA+, Outlook Negative ILC.v TNR.v, CZX.v, RM.v, NGQ.to, GRC.to, ASM.v, VTR.to, GBN.v, LMR.v, LIT, TSLA, LI.v, SGC.v, AMM.to, SQM, FMC, F, GM, NSANY, BYDDY, HEV, AONE, AVL.to

Everybody knew about the US Mess before, somebody knew about coming Downgrade for sure last week during the Sell Off and now we all have been told officially. Insider Job by S&P has finished US Dollar Reserve status officially now. China calls for austerity and adult supervision of the US Dollar. Nobody will buy the bluff about "strong dollar policy" anymore - austerity during Election Cycle is not the way to be reelected. Nothing has changed since we have put our Catalyst piece in place fundamentally - we only have to share with you our amusement with Washington politicians' desire to destroy your own country for the political gain.
We all have two choices now - try deflation with the strong dollar, riots on the street and total collapse within few shot years or we will see the coordinated QE3.0 unlished to keep the insolvent financial system running. We have seen the beginning already: Oil release from SPR, SNB and BOJ interventions to prop up the dollar and Run to Treasuries last week. Mother Bear in Treasuries will be continued. After initial panic the dollar will go down - now it will be important to manage its gradual debasement. This is the only way to inflate out Debt, increase Tax revenues without real growth in real Inflation adjusted GDP and make export of US goods and services viable again. We will not be surprised to see the general markets up by the end of the year...in nominal terms. If you would like to know the real picture just check the value of DOW divided by price of Gold. Do not do it with your house price - you will be really depressed.
Once the panic settles we will see flight to the Real assets, China will not be able to diversify all 1.2 Trillion holdings in US Treasuries, but the gradual transition will be in place - new world currency will be the Hard one based on Gold, Silver, Copper and access to strategic commodities like Oil, Lithium and REE. We are expecting that first the gold Majors will properly reflect the Gold valuation in their market caps and after that liquidity will go downstream into the Gold and Silver Juniors. Copper juniors will be at the mercy of the M&A consolidation game again and Lithium will show its truly strategic status with every uptick in the Oil price again.
James Dines can be right on the money again with his calls this time. And we will be honest with you - we just do not know what to do if political circus will bring US to the abrupt end without the proper glory of the Rome Empire in its final days.
Do we all have the chance to make it through? We do not know, but still betting on the voice of Reason and that the last war could be really the Last One. Alternative is to mind its own business, close tax loopholes, but give the Tax breaks to the new strategic industries, get out of Oil dependence and transform the country with Energy Transition to renewables and electrification of transportation. Money will be printed anyway, the question is whether it will go to the bail outs for bankers again - please do not mistaken it with banks and your deposits - or in the new manufacturing infrastructure to rebuild the economy.

"We can tell you already that this correction in the Gold market will be very different - for the first time we have Central banks buying gold. You have noticed that we are not writing so much on Gold and Silver these days - now it is in the mainstream and you can find a lot of information on these subjects. We will always follow the major turning points. There is No at this time - all fundamentals are firmly in place for the Bull to be in place in Gold and Silver markets.
We are riding these Bulls for ten years now and it will be important to note here, that even if we have another ten years in place it will be different from the very beginning. One thing is to buy Gold below 300 dollars and Silver below 5 dollars and another one is to step in now. We will personally demand more potential upside for the risk undertaken - junior miners will provide it. In this new stage you have to have multiple in place to increase your odds to succeed: underlining commodity multiplied by growing Resources in the development stage - any special company-based catalyst will be always in plus.
If we are talking about James Dines and his views on the markets these days, we have to mention his conviction about the Rare Earths generational opportunity. Many plays in REE have already enjoyed almost parabolic rise within last 12 months, but there are still some just coming on stage.

We will share today with you the last very important observation before forwarding you to the recent James Dines interview. Our Catalyst and everything what is driving Gold and Silver all these years are driving the New - still under the radar screens of most investors - Generational Bull Mega Trend. This Mega Trend is Energy Transition of our World to the post carbon society. You are more than welcome to explore it here on this blog.
All these games with QE and debasing the US Dollar will lead to the inevitable - Inflation, it is the only way to run on par with the Debt in order to keep the insolvent financial system running. During this exercise the fundamental shift will have to occur - transition to the new Energy Diet for our society. Oil will be pushed out of reach for the most economies due to the Peak Oil multiplied by Inflation which will push prices of all Real Assets, including commodities higher.
If rising Gold could be still portrayed to the crowd as the fancy of the cocktail discussions and headache for the FED and their buddies among the millionaires - who is preoccupied with Wealth Preservation - the rising Gas prices are hitting to the core of our society. It is all about mere survival for the millions. It is the Institutional Risk which can break the canvas of all social structure within months of Hyperinflation.

It is inevitable - the move out of Oil - we can chose now and try to make it more or less manageable and smooth and we have technology to do it. Electric Cars provide this opportunity. Price of Oil, properly accounted for all wars to keep it running and all military expense to protect the ocean supply lines is already much higher than the 100 dollars per barrel. This move will happen anyway, whether particular companies and their hired politicians want it or no - the question is when and at what price. The longer we all wait the higher the total cost of this transition will be.
For us it is the same situation as with Gold and Silver ten years ago - the forces of supply and demand and real economics will be driving this Bull, which can not be controlled even by Almighty FED. According to the admission of Mr Bernanke: "FED can not print Oil."
Listen to the James Dines and study your post carbon future with strategic commodities at the base of the Next Industrial Revolution: Rare Earths and Lithium.

It is not only about money this time - the question is how are we all going to survive? Even the best politicians can not make it without us this time - we do not have luxury of time left. Do your part: start asking questions, spread the word, buy Electric Car or support the transition in your community.
In the investment world new fortunes will be made on this trend and if you will discount the recent OTC Lithium Hype in the U.S. there are solid companies and serious players coming into the sector. Study the fundamentals, research the ideas, make your DD and have a great journey!

The world has enough lithium resources to power electric vehicles for the rest of the century, according to a newly published report.
The study (pdf) appears in theJournal of Industrial Ecology and is the product of a collaboration between the University of Michigan and Ford Motor Co. For their assessment, the researchers compiled information about lithium deposits in the United States and around the globe and predicted the expected demand for the resource from advanced car batteries and other uses.
Co-author Timothy Wallington, technical leader of Ford's sustainability science research group, said scholars have been wondering, "Do we have enough lithium? The answer is yes."
"We conclude that even with a rapid and widespread adoption of electric vehicles powered by lithium ion batteries," the authors wrote, "lithium resources are sufficient to support demand until at least the end of the century."
At this point, they said, the global lithium resource is estimated to be about 39 million tons. Their conservative estimate of the amount of material that can actually be recovered, taking into account economics and processing issues, is at least 19 million tons. And their highest scenario for lithium demand -- including uses other than batteries, like lubricants and pharmaceuticals -- does not exceed 20 million tons between 2010 and 2100.
"There is obviously a lot of uncertainty in modeling of this nature; that's why we looked at different estimates for growth," University of Michigan professor Greg Keoleian, one of the report's authors, said in an interview. "In terms of deposits, we expect there are going to be new discoveries as well."
Keoleian, who is co-director of the Center for Sustainable Systems, said the study took numerous factors into account for different lithium demand scenarios, including global economic output, increased efficiency and recycling. He said responsible use of the resource is a must even with abundant supplies.
"The key is that you're using it efficiently," Keoleian said, "and it's not leaking from the economy after use."
The report points out that most hybrid electric vehicles currently use nickel-metal hydride batteries. And while lithium use is on the rise, other technologies are also in the works.
"We note that other vehicle technologies, such as fuel cells and ultra-capacitor batteries, are being explored, and these may compete with [lithium ion] batteries," the report says.
"It's true to say that most of the manufacturers are looking to lithium ion battery technologies for the future," Wallington said.
Still, the expected demand for lithium from electric vehicles, including hybrid cars, has turned the element into a so-called critical material, with lawmakers on Capitol Hill working to secure a U.S. supply and pushing legislation to promote the domestic manufacturing of the high-quality lithium necessary for advanced batteries (E&E Daily, July 12).
Exploration and mining efforts have also proliferated around the world. Laurence Golborne, mining minister for Chile -- one of the world's top lithium producers from resource-rich salt brine deposits -- described his country's increasing focus on lithium at a conference in Arlington, Va., earlier this year.
While there is only one operating lithium mine in the United States, Western Lithium Corp. and others are also aiming to develop projects to increase domestic production (Greenwire, April 21). Western Lithium hopes to extract the resource from clay in Nevada's Kings Valley deposit, identified in the report as one of the world's richest.
"The biggest hurdles to a long-term lithium supply will be establishing lithium production facilities at the rate demanded by the automobile industry, advancing the technology to remove magnesium from lithium-bearing brines," the report says, "and developing the Uyuni deposit."
While the authors list the Uyani brine deposit in Bolivia as the world's most lithium-abundant, political obstacles have prevented full-scale commercial extraction there.
