Lithium: Ener1 Partners With Russian Federal Grid To Develop Energy-Storage Solutions TNR.v, CZX.v, HEV, AONE, RM.v, LMR.v, LI.v, WLC.v, CLQ.v, SQM, F

Energy Storage solutions for the Grid will be a very important driver for the demand for Lithium batteries. We have another confirmation about advance in technology for the Smart Grid in this very important sector.

"It is very encouraging to see another confirmation of Lithium based batteries used for secondary market in Utility Storage area. Any volume in Grid batteries applications with Lithium based technology will help to bring total cost of lithium batteries per kWh down and open doors to the wide range of Lithium based batteries applications for Utility Scale and Smart Grid technology sectors."

Ener1 Partners With Federal Grid To Develop Energy-Storage Solutions

Ener1 Inc., a manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Russia's Federal Grid Co. to help identify new opportunities to use battery systems to improve the reliability and performance of the Russian electricity system.

"Grid storage is a quick, highly cost-effective way to solve reliability and power-quality challenges on any network, and especially one that is already operating at its limit," says Ener1 CEO Charles Gassenheimer. "Russia and other emerging markets have the opportunity to leapfrog the kind of systems that exist elsewhere because the need for innovative solutions is so acute. The ability to store energy to use where and when it's needed is a big part of that."
