"If we decided to drive electric cars and charge their Lithium battery with wind, solar and other green power generated energy - time is study Rare Earth Elements. Every time you click on your Blackberry, iPhone or use your PowerBook you are at the mercy of all these elements."

Two-wheeled electric commuter machines are Yamaha's response to urban congestion.

The Yamaha EC-f on display at the Tokyo motor show is a smart electric commuter bike based on the more staid-looking EC-03 commuter scooter
The EC-f has a lightweight aluminium frame and is powered by a lithium-ion battery driving a 0.6kWh electric motor. The charger is built into the frame for simple plug-in recharging.

The idea of the funkily-styled EC-f models is to encourage more people on to two wheels in towns. Yamaha has joined up with all the major Japanese motorcycle manufacturers to encourage this with more free parking spaces for motorcycles and scooters as well as easier access to 125cc licences.
Are you listening, Britain?"
