Standing next to the lovely GTE plug-in hybrid during the Beijing Motor Show, VW CEO Martin Winterkorn announced a renewed, $25-billion focus for the German automaker on electric mobility in China. EVs + China is not a new equation for VW (see here and here and here), but the time is now for the plan to come together, apparently. With the Porsche Panamera S E-hybrid already in showrooms, the next tip of the spear is made up of the all-electric e-up! and e-Golf, both of which are due later this year. In 2015, the Audi A3 e-tron and Golf GTE will arrive. In 2016, there will be two exclusive-to-China plug-in hybrid vehicles in showrooms: a A6 PHEV and a "new mid-size limousine from the Volkswagen brand." VW Group may even throw in the Bentley Hybrid Concept for good measure. The China-only models will be built in the country and VW is investing over $25 billion between now and 2018, creating an expected 20,000 jobs."

Strategic Partner, Ganfeng Lithium, Receives Approval to Purchase Interest in International Lithium's Mariana Brine Project, Argentina

Vancouver, B.C. April 04 2014, International Lithium Corp. (the "Company" or "ILC") (TSX VENTURE:ILC.V) announces strategic partner GFL International Co., Ltd. ("Ganfeng Lithium" or "GFL") received shareholder approval for the Loan Conversion and Investment Agreement (the "Agreement") announced by the Company on March 19, 2014.

The Agreement gives GFL increased ownership in the Mariana lithium brine project in Argentina in exchange for work commitments and the cancellation of approximately US$3.3 million in loans plus interest indebted to GFL (see NR March 19, 2014). Additionally the Agreement gives GFL the sole and exclusive right and option to earn an additional 10% interest in the Mariana Property by paying ILC US$450,000 within 15 days of GFL receiving the shareholder approval announced herein.

The resultant ownership of the Mariana project if all conditions are met will be 80% GFL and 20% ILC.

Other noteworthy terms of the Agreement include a back in right granted to ILC to acquire 10% in the project following the completion of a Feasibility Study and GFL granting ILC loans for up to $2 million to carry ILC's participating interest in the project.

ILC and GFL are now beginning the process of formally defining their joint venture on the Mariana lithium brine project and reviewing proposed budgets to advance the project quickly and efficiently.

Will it make it in numbers? Renault Twizy has not made it to the mainstream urban community so far. Toyota i-Road could be appealing to the larger audience.
