Electric Cars are not toys any more and serious players are investing serious money into this Next Big Thing now.

"Lithium Charge: Bottled Lightning: Superbatteries, Electric Cars, and the New Lithium Economy. Finally, we have the first book about the Lithium economy and Electric Cars - this Bull is still in its infancy now, just look around - how many Electric Cars can you see. For us it is like Gold and Silver in 2003 when nobody cared about it. This mega trend - Peak Oil multiplied by Inflation - will be even more powerful. Ugly Truth about diminishing Oil supply with constantly increasing demand will make its way to the headlines again with higher Gas prices. Be prepared and tell the others - this time is coming and we can be ready for it. Time to act is now."

CNBC:

Nissan Leaf Gets Highest Rating From US Regulator

A U.S. safety regulator has awarded the Nissan Leaf its highest rating, the company said on Monday.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has awarded the car a 5-star overall safety rating, making it the first fully-electric vehicle to earn such a rating, Nissan said.

The Leaf has also been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, it said.

So far, about 4,000 Leafs have been delivered to U.S. customers. The company said last week it is expanding its U.S. sales.
