US Dollar Meltdown - Will Gold Start To Move Finally Up Now? GLD GDX TNR.v MUX NG ABX

US Dollar today is in a total meltdown mood and is holding just a notch above the psychologically crucial 79.00 level at 79.09 now. Gold is moving between 1,300 and 1,317, which was tested yesterday. The both levels are crucial as we have discussed before. Move above MA50 at $1,317 will ignite the new Rally and short covering will provide the fuel for the launch of Leg Up Two in this Gold Bull market.

Eric Sprott: The Chinese Gold Vortex - Do Not Miss This Golden Opportunity GDX TNR.v MUX

CS. Gold is building a very strong reversal pattern after resent correction. The only problem is that we are not the only one watching this chart closely and manipulators are trying to paint the breakdown on the chart above. In the normal market this picture will indicate very strong Bull market, building the base after The Golden Cross to make its Second Bull Leg Up. We have the close right above the MA200 at $1,300 and Bollinger Bands suggest that volatility will increase dramatically. Will "They" be able to break Gold down again? This is the question which will separate boys from the men again. The most important for us that this technical picture reflects the fundamentals Eric Sprott is talking about in his article.
Should Gold confirm this reversal by breaking Up above the MA50 at $1,317 Gold Junior Miners with the strong stories will finally start to move. This very illiquid and speculative type of investments in Gold equities normally start to participate in the stage two of the Gold Rally, when liquidity from professional players is searching for the new "ten-baggers" after booking the profits from the initial Gold Breakout. Every market is the function of the supply and demand, with Equities hitting all-times-highs and moving into the weak "Sell In May" season Gold Junior Miners have all chances to remind why they are considered to be so volatile. The way up normally is a very dramatic move in magnitude after such an obliteration as you can see on the chart below. The most important indicator here is the Volume - money is coming into the sector. More."

Gold And Silver Break Crucial Levels Causing Massive Short Squeeze TNR.v MUX GDX GLD SLV RGLD SWC

As we have mentioned before, Gold and Silver has broken to the upside causing massive short squeeze. The big boyz are loaded on Gold now and we will monitor today how the mass media will be picking up the Gold story again. It will be nothing more than the info fed for crowd indicator, but it is important to watch the change in the investing public outlook. We will provide the digest of the most interesting articles from industry insiders as well this weekend updating this entry, stay tuned.
The most important news for us:

"Koos Jansen reports on continued unprecedented appetite from China for Gold, according to his information, after  the unprecedented demand of 2,181 tons of Gold from China in 2013 Chinese Gold demand hits All-Time record of 247 tons in January. Now Gold today's breakout above $1,322 level can be put in another perspective."

We are  following Toby Connor with his very interesting concept of The Great Inflation in 2014. Gold was in a breakout mood this week and finally has broken to the upside from $1270 level with intraday high on Friday at $1,322 and close at $1,319. We have now the massive short squeeze in action in Gold and Silver. Silver has broken to the upside as well on Friday closing at $21.51. Gold mining shares are making the very good progress as well.
On the chart above you can see that Gold has crossed the very important level on daily chart and moved above its 200MA at $1,309. It will bring a lot of attention of traders and shorts will be running to the exit now. Mass media will be picking up the Gold story as well now. CNBC is talking about Gold and Miners already and Jim Cramer advises to watch GDX - Gold miners ETF. Next levels in Gold to watch is $1,360 and $1,420 to complete Double Bottom Reversal pattern on weekly chart.
Silver had its massive breakout as well following the Gold footsteps this week. Next levels to watch here are $22.75 and $25 to confirm its Double Bottom Reversal pattern on weekly chart. The most important here that Silver has broken to the upside above its 200MA at $21.13 and closed above it at $21.49.

Gold Breaks 1,320: The Mother Of Short Squeeze Has Arrived TNR.v MUX GDX GLD SLV RGLD ABX GG

"Gold is sending its Happy Valentines to all Gold Bugs today and breaks $1320 on the massive short squeeze. Gold shorts will have their Blood Friday now. The real reason for this move is the realisation of the groundbreaking shift in the structure of the Gold market with the unprecedented demand of 2,181 tons of Gold from China in 2013.
Janet Yellen testimony has opened the possibility To Taper The Taper and James Rickards is calling for the Taper Pause in June. US dollar is going down very close to 80.00 level again. This level will be protected, but should the US Dollar break down below 80.00 Gold and Silver will go vertical towards $1,500 and $25 respectively.
Our short Squeeze watch includes McEwen Mining and TNR Gold. McEwen Mining had 26.8 million shares sold short or 8.6 days to cover, according to NASDAQ. MUX.to has rocketed from December low of CAD1.80 to CAD3.27 close yesterday. Gold breakout will push shorts into the corner, but explosive move in Silver will have even more effect on this company.
TNR Gold is still day dreaming, but move in McEwen Mining should pull out this junior out of its misery. Los Azules Copper development will be next to watch on the back of recent M&A activity in the sector and CRB - commodity index breakout to the upside."

Meanwhile McEwen Mining has printed The Golden cross on its daily chart.

Toby Connor: The Great Inflation Of 2014 - Gold And Silver To Rise TNR.v, MUX, GDX, GLD, SLV

"Toby Connor provides very interesting technical view on the general markets, Commodities, Gold and Silver. Nobody can find inflation these days and his take on the final rise and bust in the general markets is very intriguing. Our own observations confirm the CRB - Commodities Index breakout and that Gold is knocking on the $1270 with huge break out to the upside after that. Supply and Demand picture provides further support to the technical observations in Gold and Silver markets these days. Where the Gold will come from in the future with China record buying continued? M&A activity will be driving the next Bull market in Gold and Silver miners."

Gold Scents:

Toby Connor

Today another piece fell into place in my Great Inflation scenario that I'm expecting for 2014.

Before I begin let me recap. My overarching driver for the Great Inflation scenario is that the dollar would have some kind of crisis, or semi-crisis late this year as it drops down into its major three year cycle low. All other stock and commodity movements will be driven by this impending currency crisis.

For stocks, I'm expecting a final bubble phase parabolic spike over the next 4-5 months, followed by a devastating crash as the parabola collapses in June or July.

For commodities, I'm expecting a stealth rally for another month to a month and a half, followed by a super spike inflationary phase in the latter half of the year as the dollar collapse reaches maximum intensity.

Today the dollar broke through its intermediate trend line confirming that an intermediate degree decline is now in progress.

Since this intermediate cycle topped on week two in a left translated manner, the odds are very high that the dollar is going to break below the October low before this intermediate cycle bottoms. I'm actually expecting another test of the megaphone topping pattern trend line before this intermediate cycle bottoms sometime in March or early April.

The real damage is yet to come later in the year though.

The next component is the stock market. The movement in stocks over the next 4-5 months is a very important component for the Great Inflation to unfold. Stocks must enter a final parabolic melt up, bubble phase during the first half of this year. The very mild intermediate cycle low that bottomed last week has set the stage for this scenario to begin. In only five days the NASDAQ 100 has already moved back to new highs. This confirms my expectation that we are going to see the NASDAQ test the all-time highs above 5000 before this cyclical bull market comes to an end.

At that point the parabolic advance in the stock market will experience its initial collapse, and I expect the S&P will crash at least back to the 2000/2007 support zone at 1550. This is another critical component for the Great Inflation to unfold as it will cause Yellen to panic, reverse the taper, and probably initiate QE5 & 6. This won't reflate the broken parabola but it will trigger a reaction rally before the collapse continues into a massive bear market that will bottom below 666 sometime in early to mid-2016.

QE 5 & 6 will be the final nail in the coffin for the dollar, and will trigger a full break of the megaphone top. I expect a move below the 2011 and 2008 bottoms before the dollar completes its final three year cycle low.

Commodity markets have already begun the stealth rally that I was looking for during the first half of this year. They successfully tested the 2012 three year cycle low and have now broken through the multiyear downtrend line. The Great Inflation has begun.

During this stealth rally I'm expecting gold to test the initial April breakdown at 1520 over the next 1-2 months.

That should push sentiment levels to bullish extremes from their current depressed levels, triggering an intermediate degree profit taking event into May or June as the stock market finishes its final parabolic blow off top.

As you can see silver sentiment is already recovering nicely and today's move will likely push sentiment to levels next week requiring the metals to pull back and take a breather.

Source: sentimenTrader.com

Over the next 4-5 months the easy money is going to be playing the final bubble phase in the stock market. Bubble tops don't come around very often, but when they do traders can make an obscene amount of money in a short period of time.

Once the stock market bubble pops, and Yellen starts QE5 that's the point at which the Great Inflation will begin in earnest, and I believe gold will probably rocket from an intermediate bottom of around 1350-1400 this summer, to test $2000 by the end of the year. This is the phase where the metals become the "easy trade".

Over the next couple of months everything should generally rise together. But once the dollar puts in an intermediate bottom sometime in March or April, commodities and gold will move down into an intermediate correction as the stock market completes its final blow off top. After the stock market parabola collapses later this summer it will be time to put the pedal to the metal in the commodity markets, and especially the precious metal markets as the Great Inflation begins in earnest.

Infographic: Which Gold Miners Hold The Most Supply (And Who Must Replenish Through M&A) TNR.v, MUX, GLD, GDX

ZeroHedge presents Gold Miners Sector and Gold supply chain as we are searching for the answer: where the Gold will come from in the future? A lot of miners are at the break-even levels with this level of Gold price and are cutting back on new project development and exploration. Juniors are cut off from the capital markets and only the strongest will survive. With record amount of Gold flowing from West to the East and China now being the top consumer of Gold we have the almost perfect set up for the much higher Gold prices.
Junior miners with the best stories can represent the life time buying opportunity in these markets. Goldcorp hostile bid for Osisko is the very good indication of the major bottom in the market.
Among our "Golden Nuggets" McEwen  Mining has received the last permit for its El Gallo 2 mine development in Mexico. Rob McEwen has addressed these developments recently, presenting his progress in Mexico, Argentina and Nevada. He has discussed at length the questions of resource nationalism and miss-guided "rear view mirror" mining sector policies around the world in his recent interview. Safe mining jurisdictions like Alaska in case with TNR Gold Shotgun deposit will gain the more attraction from the industry in the new cycle.

Rob McEwen On Goldcorp's Hostile Bid, M&A Opportunity And Market Bottoms MUX, TNR.v, GLD, GDX

"With general equity markets sliding into the territory which will challenge Bernanke's Happy Exit with Tapering, time is to listen to those who have seen and have done it. Rob McEwen is dissecting the recent market situation in Gold and M&A activity, which will make the best stories in the market to move very fast from the bottom. McEwen Mining has bottomed at $1.65 in December and has closed at $2.63 last Friday. Los Azules Copper project will be the one of the coming M&A stories this year, which will move valuations of McEwen Mining and TNR Gold. TNR Gold holds shares of McEwen Mining after the settlement on Los Azules. Rob McEwen has announced on Twitter about the commencement of drilling in Nevada now. With Gold crossing $1270 and closing just below it we have a very exciting time for the best stories in junior mining these days."

Infographic: Which Gold Miners Hold The Most Supply (And Who Must Replenish Through M&A)

The following infographic focuses on what is probably the key issue for current
state of the physical gold-strapped market: which gold miners hold the
most (physical, not paper) supply.

Readers will note that a key tangent of the above infographic is the presentation of which miners need to add new reserves, or otherwise boost their asset base quickly, ostensibly through M&A - information that may be useful if and when the inevitable wave of consolidation in the miner space finally takes place. To provide a more in depth perspective on that issue, here is Jeff Desjardins from Visual Capitalist with additional insight.
Which Gold Miners Must Replenish Their Reserves Through M&A?
We often hear that large gold producers are usually not the best explorers. As such, when it comes time to replenish or grow their resource base, they must look to M&A.
With the recent offer from Goldcorp to buy Osisko for $2.6 billion, we wanted to do the math and see how much gold the majors and mid-tiers actually have in the ground. In addition, we wanted to find how much of it was in undeveloped projects vs. current producing mines.
Two months ago, using data from the 2013 Gold Deposit Rankings, we completed a rough approximation of total gold for each major. However, this time we took it a step further and conducted a much more rigorous analysis. We looked at each major and mid-tier in depth, took into account joint ventures, and calculated what percentage of their gold is in undeveloped projects. Presumably, it is the companies that have nothing in the pipeline that will want to acquire more gold assets. This is especially true, given that the target companies for potential takeover offers are trading at some of their lowest valuations in years.
Note: because the 2013 Gold Deposit Rankings only deals with gold deposits above 1 million oz and with certain cutoff specifications, we haven’t included small ones.

To start at a high level, here is the breakdown between how many mines are owned by big producers vs. junior miners.
majors-vs-juniors
Of the 2.02 billion oz Au that majors and mid-tiers have, it turns out 71.3% of projects in their portfolios are already in production.
producing-vs-undeveloped
This means that big producers have less than 30% of their total reserves and resources contained in undeveloped projects. On average, while each undeveloped project is slightly higher grade (1.27 g/t vs. 1.11 g/t), they contain less overall gold.
In fact, each average project in the pipeline has 38% less gold  than those in production:
average-mine-undeveloped
Projects in the pipeline are both fewer and smaller in size. However, what is really interesting is that we have not even yet looked at development hurdles such as permitting or jurisdiction risk. Take the Pebble Project – this is the biggest gold project in the world (even though it is primarily copper). It holds 107 million oz of gold, and it is currently stalled by the EPA.
Of the 76 projects in the pipeline for majors and mid-tiers, how many of them will never go into production? How many of them will run into significant development challenges like Barrick’s Pascua Lama project? The math says that majors and mid-tiers have less than 30% of their gold in undeveloped projects, but this number could be even less based on these considerations.
That all said, let’s look at what is available in the junior market – this is where majors and mid-tiers would go to fill their pipeline of projects:
average-junior
There are many projects, but at a much lower grade and size. About 20% are in production and 80% are in development.
The question is now: which majors are going to be the most likely to acquire new projects? In this chart, I’ll show the resources and reserves for each company. For a more detailed chart, see the infographic done through Visual Capitalist.
Gold reserves and resources sorted by majors and mid-tiers
Last, but not least, here are four other companies besides Goldcorp that we think may be looking to boost their asset base: Gold Fields, Newcrest, Newmont, and Kinross.
Newcrest (ASX: NCM)
  • Cash: $69 million (June financials)
  • Resources currently in production: 86%
  • Resources in pipeline: 14%
  • Avg. grade of pipeline: 0.86 g/t
Gold Fields (NYSE: GFI)
  • Cash: $1.2 billion
  • Resources in production: 89%
  • Resources in pipeline: 11%
  • Avg. grade of pipeline: 0.63 g/t
Newmont Mining (NYSE: NEM)
  • Cash: $1.5 billion
  • Resources in production: 78%
  • Resources in pipeline: 22%
  • Avg. grade of pipeline: 1.02 g/t
Kinross Gold (NYSE: KGC)
  • Cash: $950 million
  • Resources in production: 66%
  • Resources in pipeline: 34%
  • Avg. grade of pipeline: 1.12 g/t
Note: The recent writedown of the Tasiast project may make Kinross wary of M&A for the time being."
