We can hardly call it mass production, but Mercedes is driving carefully into the Electric Space: few E-Cells models are already on the road, company took a stake in Tesla Motors before IPO and engaged in J/V with BYD from China - now 500 A-Class EVs will be put on the roads for testing. 200 km range is very impressive and sandwich architecture allows to accommodate batteries and powertrain under the floor, leaving space for 5 seats inside this car and for normal luggage space as well. Important news for us is that Daimler will be producing its own lithium ion batteries soon.
"This year we have quite a few warnings already about Peak Oil from main stream economists, universities, US military and government agencies all around the world. The question now is not if, but when is it going to happen.
We have time still, but it is running out very fast. After a certain point in the oil price increase the only concern we are going to have about Electric Cars will be their availability on a mass scale to preserve our way of life and freedom."
